1st Degree as minimum qualification for teachers in Nigeria

BREAKING NEWS!!!
The Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau has revealed a plan by the Federal Government to make a first degree the minimum qualification for teachers in Nigeria.
Poorly educated teachers in primary and secondary schools have been consistently blamed for the decline in quality of education in Nigeria.
This plan should also include better salaries and attractive employment packages in order to effectively motivate the teachers. When this plan comes into effect, it will go a long way in upgrading the quality of teaching in Nigeria.

    Very good, we will have quality education at last. Although I do not believe that primary school teachers need 1st degree to teach.

    1st degree is not the issue of the nation education failure but rather we should employ those who have the gift of teaching, passion for teaching and those who will teach our children to take it as a serious business.
    in US before you will be allowed to teach or licence you as a teacher you must have a particular field (e.g) chartered accountant, a lawyer, pharmacist etc.

    I don't think it's necessary. You may have M.SC or B.SC and may not be able to impact knowledge to the pupil,you do not have passion or have a gift of teaching.

    Back in the days when (grade 2) teachers were teaching the pupil were more brighter than when NIGERIA put the minim qualification as N.C.E holder.
