Choosing a secondary school for your child.

What informs your decision when choosing a secondary school for your child?
T o help you choose the best school for your child, take the following into consideration;

*Look for schools that truly aim to educate the whole child by
offering a balanced intellectual, moral, social and physical
 curriculum.

*Check quality of the teachers. Are they qualified to teach the
  subjects they teach?

*Confirm that the school organizes continuous teacher
training programmes for their teachers. The evolving
nature of education demands that teachers are continuously
  trained.

*Find out if their learning facilities are up to date and
  functional.

*Check the number of students in one class & no of teachers to
  a class.

*Check if the school has trained counselors to handle
emotional issues and offer pastoral care.

*Check their WAEC records for the past five years.

*Check the progression of their former students.

*Check if the environment is conducive for learning.

School buildings do not teach nor impart knowledge so don't be carried away by beautiful school buildings.

  1. I am a parent and my effort to get the necessary information from my children's school was not very successful. They concealed vital information which I only discovered after my children started school .
My question is how can parents actually get all the info they need before making that important choice?
